Privacy Policy

Effective June 10, 2026

This policy explains what information Hernando Beacon (“we,” “us”) collects when you visit hernandobeacon.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. The site is an informational local publication — there are no user accounts to create and nothing to buy on the site.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us. If you email us (for a tip, question, or correction), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to share.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) logs standard technical data — such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and the pages you view — to deliver the site, keep it secure, and understand traffic in aggregate.

Analytics and cookies

We use analytics services to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. These include:

  • Cloudflare — privacy-focused, aggregate traffic and performance analytics.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) — measures site usage (pages viewed, device, approximate location) using cookies. See Google’s privacy policy; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • Microsoft Clarity — helps us see how visitors navigate pages through aggregated heatmaps and session replays of on-page interactions (clicks, scrolls, and movement). Clarity is configured to mask text input and sensitive content. See the Microsoft privacy statement.

These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you send a “Do Not Track” signal, which we respect where supported.

How we use information

To operate, secure, and improve the site; to understand which coverage is useful; and to respond to messages you send us. We do not use it to build advertising profiles of you.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. Data is processed by the service providers named above (Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft) solely to provide their services, under their own privacy terms. We may disclose information if required by law.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics using the links above, your browser’s cookie and Do Not Track settings, or a privacy extension. To ask what we hold about you or request deletion, email [email protected].

Third-party links

We link to other websites (businesses, official sources, event pages). Their privacy practices are their own; this policy covers only hernandobeacon.com.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves; we’ll revise the effective date above when we do.
